Windows Live Alerts for Your Space

If you maintain a blog on Windows Live Spaces then you should subscribe to Windows Live Alerts for your space.  As the space author, you will probably be interested in receiving alerts to comments posted on your blog posts.  I have alerts set up to e-mail me each time there is a new comment on my blog.  I find it a handy way to keep tabs on my blog without having to check my space all time time.

As time passes and I blog more regularly, I'd like my family members to subscribe to alerts for my Space.  I can't see them checking my space frequently, but most of them do use e-mail.  A simple e-mail alert to my blog posts would give them an easy chance to click through and see what I've written.  It's much better than me sending out mass e-mail with updates on my life.  It allows me to put information in one place that all of my extended family can see.  What a great way to stay in touch!

    ACM ICPC Results

I blogged earlier about going to the ACM ICPC in Riverside.  Well, the competition took place last Saturday.  I could only stay for part of the competition, but our team ended up coming in 4th place out of 63 teams.  The top team from CalTech did an outstanding job, solving 6 out of 7 problems.  The 2nd and 3rd place teams solved 5 problems each.  The full contest results are here.  You will note that 4 out of the top 10 teams are from Harvey Mudd College, more than that of any other school.  My team was the only team that solved more than one problem without a failed submission.

    ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest

I made the HMC programming team!  This weekend we are going to the regional programming contest at Riverside Community College.  This will be the first time that I've gone, but my teammates have both been there before.  They placed fourth last year.  Here is the contest website:

I will let you know how I do.
